Associate

Eager to apply his creativity and romanticism to conquering design challenges, John enjoys digging deep to develop comprehensive solutions that result in poetic and thoughtful places. What started as building houses with his parents has evolved into working on a variety of cultural and educational projects, from feasibility studies to renovations to new construction, including those within historic contexts.

John is a member of the AIA, and he holds a Master of Architecture degree from Morgan State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Goucher College.

Who inspires you?
Glenn Murcutt. His wide-angle approach to creating living spaces that are both spatially and environmentally functional speaks to an attention to project context, human interaction, and the planet that belies a real mastery of practice. The fact that he still works entirely by hand is doubly remarkable.

Favorite thing about Baltimore?
I love Baltimore for a lot of reasons, but I think the biggest is that it’s truly a city of neighborhoods. Every neighborhood here really feels like a small town in all the best ways—I bump into my neighbors all the time at the grocery store, randomly on the street, or in the park. It makes the city feel like a community and a great place to live.
