Originally built in the 1970s, this citywide health professions magnet school was in need of an update to reflect the modern demands of health professions education. GWWO’s design brought the school into a new era.

The lobby and redesigned façade give the school a new visible and welcoming entry, which the building had always lacked. Instead of a dark area in a breezeway beneath the school previously used for entry, students, staff, and visitors now access the building directly from Orleans Street and enter a light-filled space displaying school trophies and student artwork.

Inside, all academic and support spaces were reconfigured and modernized. The administrative suite and cafeteria were relocated to the lower level, enabling the upper floors to be devoted to academic spaces, while positioning these key functions adjacent to the new entry lobby. The building also received a complete systemic upgrade, including HVAC systems, lighting, exterior windows and doors, asbestos abatement, ADA upgrades, and roof replacement.
