Towson University Glen Dining Hall

Constructed in 1983 and renovated in 2004, Glen Dining Hall sits at the heart of the Glen Towers community. While functional—and serving 1,250 meals per week—the two-story facility required a modernization to accommodate increased demand, improve operations, and offer an enticing dining experience for today’s students. By improving circulation, accentuating views, and presenting modern dining options, the new, activated hall engages students beyond dining.

A mix of board and retail dining options, including five food stations and flexible pop-ups, provides students with the variety that they crave. The formerly closed-off entry is reinvigorated with sweeping views to the adjacent Glen Arboretum.

Through simplifying the existing entry facade, reconfiguring building circulation, services, and equipment, and focusing on creating a clean, translucent structure, the reimagined hall is an inviting, comfortable, and inclusive space for students to interact, gather, and socialize.

Striving to achieve LEED Silver certification, the design emphasized reducing energy and water usage through highly efficient systems, optimizing daylighting, and incorporating recycled materials.
